I am a designer/design technologist for BearingPoint. I am responsible for the design and development of client side technologies for our state and local government practice in Texas. That translates to me working on the state site of Texas, TexasOnline and associated applications.
Standards
I am very standards oriented. I strive to develop in compliance with standards set forth by the W3C, Section 508 and other like minded groups such as The Web Standards Project. I believe in progressive enhancements
and techniques such as unobtrusive javascript
that will allow a site to be functional in the most basic of browsers but offer a much richer experience in standards compliant browsers.
Phased Out Sites
Some of the sites I have worked on that you won't see mentioned in the portfolio above are the City of Houston's website (2001-2003) and the City of Dallas' website (2001-2005). Both of those sites have been phased out (and for good reason). They were learning experiences to say the least. I also worked on the original Texas Homeland Security site (2003) including developing the logo that was used at the time. I also helped design and develop one of the first domain registrars initial website and domain registration application, GKG.net (1998). Once someone has been in the business long enough, they build up a healthy list of sites that they worked on but are no longer theirs. However, I feel it's important to point them out to show that my work experience isn't limited to what is in my portfolio and especially with the ones mentioned, you get a feel for the scope of site of the projects for which I have been responsible. That scope includes millions of unique visitors per month and very strict accessibility compliance.
